Server administrators have an integral role within companies. Servers are the way a company communicates between workstations and gains access to information on the internet. Many companies will hire individuals with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, buy more and more are requiring a master's degree before considering an applicant for a SQL Server Database Administrator position. Because this is a fast growing field, there are currently not enough SQL Server Database Administrator's for the companies who need them. As such, the salary for SQL Server Database Administrator's has increased over the past two years and is a career that will soon pass the $100k a year mark. While all IT professional are in a position to have lucrative careers, the SQL Server Database Administrators is going to be the top earners in the IT field.
